The Rogue Valley is located on Interstate 5, approximately 30 miles north the Oregon-California border. Medford is a regional medical center with a large retirement population and four local hospitals. Portland is a five-hour drive and San Francisco is six hours by car. The Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport (MFR) has multiple daily non-stop flights to San Francisco, Portland, Denver and Salt Lake City.

Southern Oregon has a mild four-season climate. While Oregon has a reputation for rain, the southern part of the state is quite dry, with only 20 inches of rain each year. Residents enjoy long summers, with hot days and cool nights. Fall arrives in October as trees burst with color. Winter brings snow in the mountains, but very rarely on the valley floor. Spring arrives in April with blooming flowers, chirping birds and the start of a long gardening season.

The Rogue River offers world-class fishing, rafting, and kayaking, while local mountain lakes are a great place to hike and camp. There’s skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoeing and other winter recreation opportunities within a 30-minute drive.

Southern Oregon is casual and friendly, without the hectic pace, traffic jams or daily stresses of city life. There are a number of excellent public and private schools. One local high school has won the Oregonian Cup for overall school excellence in academics, activities, athletics and sportsmanship the last five consecutive years.

As a popular tourist destination, the Rogue Valley draws world-class entertainment throughout the year. Ashland's world-famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival and summer concerts at Jacksonville's Britt Music Festival are two of the most popular options.
